Republic of Angola is situated to the South-West of Africa, sized as more than 1.2 thousand square kilometers. Its population is 12 million people.

This richest in natural resources country attracts investors from all over the world. Oil, gas, diamonds are extracted in Angola, also there are reach resourses of iron and copper ores, quartz, granit, gold, silver. Also there are great hydroenergetical resourses.

The history of close and friendly cooperation between Angola and USSR started more that 40 years ago, when angolans started their war against Portuguese colonizators. The real "star"-moment of this cooperation was in the middle seventieth of the XX century. Right after young African republic has freed itself from Portuguese protectorate.

A lot of specialists call the ninetieth a lost decade in cooperation between Russia and Africa. Remarkable fact is that other countries were not idle that time — China, for example, increased its trade turnover with african countries in 2 times for the recent years. A lot of companies from USA, Canada and Western Europe have rigid competition for the right to research Angola petroleum and diamond resources. Most of the fields were discovered by Soviet engineers.

Now friendship between Angola and Russia experiences the second birthday. Though Russia has lost its leading state in Black Continent economics, Africans did not forget the country that helped them to grow up, they do their best to develop a profitable partnership with Russia.
 On April 30, 2002 the Friendship and Cooperation Fund between Russia and Angola was created to provide political, economical and cultural returning of Russia to Africa. This Fund takes the most active part in providing different kind of help to state and non-state structures of Russia and Angola for realization of different kind of joint programs and projects in such spheres as energetic, industrial and agricultural objects building, military and technical cooperation, useful resources and oil research, fishing, health protection, education etc.
On September 10, 2002 Angola Cultural Centre opened in Moscow. It occupies several premises on Krutitskiy Val, 3/2. This event testifies the successful regeneration of cultural relations between Russia and Angola.
